2007 in review

Posted by rantingsteve on December 21, 2007

It’s been forever since I’ve posted here, and it’ll probably take me forever to post this, since I’m just learning to use the Dvorak keyboard, but anyways, here’s what’s new in my life…

About three weeks after moving, I spoke on a panel on animal rights and anti-capitalism, which was well-attended and well-received.  The next evening I was mugged 4 blocks from our home.   Hell is trying to navigate the government bureaucracy to replace a stolen Social Security card and driver’s license, but I finally reached a point where I’m getting somewhere; hopefully it’ll be resolved soon.

Living on Covert Street in Bushwick hasn’t been all that fabulous; Dino and I will be moving as soon as I can find another place.  Thankfully I’m taking next week off, so I’m sure I’ll find something.

All in all, it’s been a difficult year.  It was my first year in a relationship, which has brought many unexpected challenges, but also immense joy.  Through it all I learned much about myself.  I also lost my Mother, which is probably one of the most painful ordeals anyone can go through.  But now I take comfort in knowing she isn’t in pain anymore.  In just over a year I’ve uprooted twice, and this will be the first Christmas without visiting my family.

I’m ready for this year to end, but in spite of the trials I’ve faced, life keeps getting better.

Happy New Year!
