Project Looking Glass Demo Video
I’m not going to say the first thing that came to mind when I saw the words “3D desktop environment,” but I was very skeptical until I saw the video.
This is so friggin’ cool, I had to share.

(Alright, I lied. Sue me.)
Thanks in part to the generosity of a friend, when the heat sink on my computer died, I upgraded to a 64-bit processor. I was still running 32-bit Windows XP Professional. I got fed up with half my registers collecting dust, acquired the 64-bit version, and began the process of upgrading. My hardware, even some that is built into the 64-bit motherboard, didn’t like XP 64. So finally I said fuck it, and installed OpenSuSE. And everything is working as it should.
I’m happy now.

Why haven’t I posted this here yet?
Go to the Tofu Hound Press website and order Dino’s cookbook, Alternative Vegan. Even if you aren’t vegan, you’ll be glad you did. It’s awesomely yummy stuff!
It’s funny; I say I’m going to be cutting back on blogging and I find myself blogging more regularly. Seriously though, this will probably be the last entry for a while.
No, really, I mean it this time.
Alright, you can stop laughing now.

At some point yesterday I figured out something I should have realized and taken to heart a long time ago. Dino is very insightful about people, and more often than not tends to be right about – well – just about everything. I’m really lucky to have met him. I’m not going to say I’m lucky he’s my partner. The fact that he’s chosen to have me as his partner is just a consequence of his being a good judge of character, so it has nothing to do with luck. (Actually, I can’t even attribute our meeting to luck. The fact of the matter is, there have been so many good coincidences in my life that I don’t believe such things happen by chance.)
I, on the other hand, have not not always been a good judge of character, and as a consequence, I’ve been burned by people I thought were friends. So to have someone like Dino, who really understands people, and who has made a commitment to spend the rest of his life with me – I will never take that for granted. It’s too wonderful.
If you have found your partner, never let the mundane routine of life ever make you lose sight of how wonderful it is to have that person in your life.
If you haven’t found that person yet, understand that perhaps it isn’t the right time to find the right person. I was 26 when I found Dino. Before that, I don’t think I was ready for a relationship. Even now I’m working through some issues I have, but I’ve reached a point where I know that things are going to be alright.

Alright, I know a number of you have been waiting to hear about this, so here it is.
I have a good job now, that is actually in my field, and I start next week. That’s all I’ll say here. I’m honestly tempted to take down my blogs “just in case,” but I kind-of doubt that’ll be necessary. Needless to say, I will not talk about anything related to work here, and I’ll probably be too busy to post anything else. In any case, I’m so relieved to finally have found what I’ve been looking for.
I know I should have found it sooner, but I believe things went the way they did for a reason. Again, that’s all I’m going to say here.

I know this is old news, but I just stumbled across it this morning, and I couldn’t believe the hypocracy. Those remarks are so outrageous coming from him, I couldn’t even laugh at them.

I’m still waiting. I’m not putting all my tofu in one basket, but I believe this will work out.
I just really hate waiting.

I just have to say, in all sincerity and without the emotional mushy crap I usually fall into, I have the best husband in the world. There are some people out there who would let their spouses spiral into a place they shouldn’t be and become complacent and lethargic, while they themselves become quietly resentful. Not so with my partner! As difficult as it was for both of us, he gave me a much-needed kick in the ass (metaphorically speaking) so I would get back on task and recognize what’s really important.

I need to take care of some things IRL. Until then, I won’t be online much. For those of you who’ve expressed interest in the book club, I am sorry I won’t be able to do that anytime soon.
I’ll be back eventually. I’m just not sure when.
